Custom Solutions & Drone Technology
Custom solutions – tailor-made systems for any application
You bring the task, we bring the flight system – platform, sensors, tools and software from a single source.
- Feasibility study
- Approval
- Development
- Commissioning
- Training
- Service
Many tasks cannot be solved with an off-the-shelf drone: flying through a sewer, placing a sensor on a power line, inspecting the underside of a bridge without GPS. For requirements like these we develop the right system – based on our development platforms, the open EMQ Control flight controller and a growing toolbox of sensors, tools and software modules.
You do not need to be a drone expert. We capture your requirements, check feasibility, develop, commission and train your team – and stay at your side with service and maintenance.

Commissioning, training, service
Hands-on training of your staff, teaching the autonomy, plus maintenance and support in an all-round carefree package.
A selection of our drone solutions
Each of these systems started with a specific requirement – in customer projects or in funded research.
Patented Sewer drone
Developed for inspections in narrow and hard-to-reach areas such as sewers and shafts. Equipped with cameras and sensors for precise data acquisition.
Patent pending DNeD sensor drop drone
Intelligently detects overhead power lines and places sensors autonomously directly on the lines. Real-time grid data acquisition significantly improves the precision of grid monitoring and diagnostics.
Remote sensing
Developed for remote-sensing experts to capture geodata with a multispectral camera.
Air Inspector – fire detector drone
Inspection of fire and smoke detectors in hard-to-reach industrial areas – particularly useful for tall buildings and industrial plants.
Patent pending MISDRO – bridge inspection
Drone for the inspection of bridges and critical infrastructure. Flexible mounting of an upper and a lower sensor, autonomous control even in areas without GPS.
Open-pit mining drone
Autonomous surveying system for precise mapping and AI-assisted volume calculation of former open-pit mining areas. Coaxial octocopter with 360° 3D LiDAR and area-scan camera.
Patent pending OmniQopter – one for everything
Versatile multimedia drone for research and special applications in logistics, communication and surveying – with flexible configuration options for different tasks.
Patent pending Qmed – AI development platform
Designed as an AI drone for research and development, with 3D camera and on-board PC. Modularly expandable with numerous add-ons.
Patented Quanipulator – drone with gripper arm
The "flying hand" combines a quadrocopter with a robotic arm to grasp and move objects – a side project from our research.
The toolbox – add-ons for every platform
Every module comes with the driver software for integration into your system and an example implementation. Hardware (HW) and software (SW) are available individually or combined.
- 3D LiDAR 360° (HW & SW)
- Thermal camera (HW & SW)
- 4K camera (HW & SW)

- Obstacle detection and collision avoidance (SW)
The basis – our development platforms
Every custom solution is built on a platform of the Q series – from the handy Qlog to the Q6500 with 10 kg payload and up to 60 minutes of flight time. All platforms fly with EMQ Control, with Pixhawk or redundantly with both, including a fallback switch.
Based on your requirements we select the platform, integrate sensors and tools and develop the software that gets your task done autonomously.
Frequently asked questions
You do. All systems can be operated entirely locally: telemetry, control and the video link then run exclusively between the drone and your ground station – without cloud, without a mandatory app and without any data going to third parties. If you want a cloud connection or other forms of access, that is possible too; a cloud can also be operated entirely locally on your premises. In any case you keep control over where your data is stored.
Yes. Development services are an integral part of our business model: custom builds, adaptations of existing systems, contract research as well as PCB and mechanical design. The first fully autonomous delivery drone was a contract development for a customer. From concept to a flying prototype usually takes three to six months, including export control for dual-use goods. We are open to the subsequent exploitation of a joint development project.
Fully autonomous delivery drones with redundant control and patented landing site detection, the drone port for intralogistics, and platforms with 3D/4K cameras and LiDAR for inspection and documentation, on request in a private 5G network. Drone manufacturers and integrators can source individual functions of our technology and integrate them into their own systems: the EMQ Control flight controller with software framework and documented interfaces; plug-and-play modules for obstacle detection and collision avoidance using ultrasound, infrared, laser or 3D sensors, which pass their control commands to any flight controller; the patented landing site detection for precise autonomous landing; autonomous navigation and mission planning with redundant safeguards; automatic loading and unloading including battery charging via the EMQbox transport box and the EMQbot robot; the connection to conveyor belts, automation equipment and inventory management via the EMQint interface; and onboard computers with AI functions such as object detection, SLAM and swarm control. Added to this are approval services, training and maintenance. If none of this fits, we develop the system to your requirements – from the circuit board to the mechanics; this is how tailor-made solutions come about, for example in the DNeD research project.
Yes. We show you the QCS live in a free, non-binding web demo of about 20 minutes and answer your questions. For the delivery drone and the drone port a consultation is possible at any time – on request with a visit to the drone port in Würzburg. For custom systems, industrial applications and research and development projects we also recommend a consultation in which we go through your requirements together. You can book the appointment directly on the website: request an appointment.
